The Beginning of something..
My aim with this blog is to make space for me to understand myself, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Hopefully, it also helps you to understand yourself a little better too. Healing doesn’t arrive in a perfect, pretty package. It comes slowly. It is continuous and ever-changing. It comes through silence, shaking, crying on the floor. Then, eventually, through breath, through movement, through honest reflection.
Healing comes through learning how to sit with yourself without trying to escape. It comes from understanding who you are without the labels society places on us.
Although healing isn’t linear, I don’t believe there’s a final destination where you no longer have to do 'the work', that keeps us present and on the straight and narrow. But I do believe 'the work' gets easier, to the point it doesn’t feel like 'work' anymore, and it shouldn't. Being taught our mind health is a very important part of our lives doesn't happen for many of us, eventually the calling to start on the journey consumes us and thats where I am. No longer living in the misery of the things that were and are out of my control but taking ownership of my here and now, listening to my intuition.
I want to take you all with me while I’m on that road. I’m building something sustainable. I’m creating a map for when I go astray, and using the road signs I’ve learned to show me the way back.
No one’s journey is ever the same, that’s for sure. But sometimes you can ask a friend or stranger for directions, and it helps you get slightly closer to your destination, which if you haven't been following is, your true self.
So I guess that’s the purpose of this blog: to help give some direction while I’m looking for the way myself.
